AI x NAMIE AMURO “FAKE” Details

AI’s new single, a collaboration with Namie Amuro, has finally been confirmed. A two track regular edition and a limited edition four track version with two remixes of “FAKE” will be on sale nationwide on March 31st, 2010. The song has a girl talk theme, similar to that of Namie’s own “GIRL TALK.” This is AI’s first single of the year and the first celebrating her 10th anniversary.

MAX to Perform in Okinawa for TGC

The semi-seasonal Japanese fashion event, Tokyo Girls Collection, is having a special event this year in Okinawa and MAX and fellow management mates, DA PUMP, will act as performing artists. It will take place on April 24th, 2010 at the Okinawa Convention Center. Also appearing on the runway is fellow Okinawa Actor’s School alum, Yu Yamada. Other models currently confirmed to be walking the runway include Yukina Kinoshita, Lena Fuji, Marie, Maomi Yuuki, and Miki Nanri. Tickets for the event have already sold out.

MAX’s Euro Night Report

MAX performed the second of their monthly concert series on Saturday. Themed on a selection of the group’s most popular and rarely performed Eurobeat hits. The night started with an opening movie of the four members drinking together dressed in kimonos. They entered the stage wearing the kimonos before taking them off to reveal glittery golden costumes underneath. The first song of the night was “LOVE LOVE FIRE” from their massive debut album, “MAXIMUM.” Highlights of the night includes an extremely rare performance of “Kiss me Kiss me, Baby” which the group has not performed since its initial release in 1995. They were joined by a troupe of child dancers for the song as well as a performance of “TORA TORA TORA.” They also performed a new song, “Cat’s Eye” a cover of the theme song to the popular anime of the same name originally by ANRI. During the encore, Nana, Mina and Reina surprised Lina with a little birthday celebration as her 33rd birthday was the day prior. The theme for April’s event will be J-pop Night. MAX Adds Another Date to Monthly Concert Series

Vision Factory has announced a new concert scheduled for April 10th, 2010 to MAX’s “MAX MONTHLY LIVE VIP” concert series. It is to be held once again at Akazaka BLITZ in Tokyo. The theme for this concert has not been revealed yet, but as MAX’s 15th anniversary approaches, fans can be sure to expect some surprises. Reina had announced on her blog, that the group would be taking a rest in March and no concert has been scheduled in that time frame.

The group will perform the second concert in the series this weekend on February 27th. The theme for the concert will be Euro Night and the members of the group have hinted that they will be performing some very rare songs. Vision Factory has site up several services for the event including a mobile website, which is unfortunately unavailable to fans outside of Japan.

Amuro’s “FAST CAR” Nominated for SSTV Award

The music video for Namie Amuro’s “FAST CAR” has been nominated a Space Shower TV Award for Best Art Direction. It was directed by Shigeaki Kubo who also directed “The Meaning Of Us” and “LOVE GAME” music videos off her latest album, “PAST < FUTURE.” Last year, Namie took home two awards for Best Artist and Best Female Video for “NEW LOOK.” The Awards ceremony will air March 22nd.

AI and Namie Amuro get Fake

According to a tweet posted on Spittn Image’s twitter page, AI and Namie Amuro are currently working on a music video for a song called, “Fake.” It is being directed and choreographed by Shawnette Heard, who previously worked with Namie on “CAN’T SLEEP, CAN’T EAT, I’M SICK.” Spittn Image is a media production company based in Los Angeles, California.

This is AI and Namie’s third collaboration after working on the track, “Uh Uh,,,,,,” from the SUITE CHIC project and “Do What U Gotta Do” with ZEEBRA and Mummy-D.

Flash Back: Super Monkey’s Live Events

It’s a quiet time for Namie and MAX fans, so now’s a good time as any to share media files! Today, AMX is giving you guys a bast from the past with three exclusive live events. These clips filmed by a fan back in 1995, capture Namie Amuro with SUPER MONKEY’S during their rise to superstardom.

Major props go to Claudia, who wanted to share a bit of Super Monkey history. Thanks to her efforts, I’m able to share them with you guys today. So, without further ado…

The first event was held to celebrate the success of their 5th single, “TRY ME ~Watashi wo Shinjite~.” It starts with the group performing a dance routine to a medley of Janet Jackson hits before segueing into “TRY ME.” It’s followed by “Aishite MASUKATTO” and then a medley of karaoke songs sung by Nana, Mina, Reina and Lina while Namie goes backstage to change. They speak with crowd afterward to introduce their new single, “Taiyou no SEASON” and end the event performing an encore of “TRY ME.”

PAST < FUTURE Goes #1 in 5 Countries

After claiming #1 in Japan, Amuro’s 9th studio album, “PAST < FUTURE” has now topped the charts in 4 other Asian territories including South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. It marks the first time that a Japanese female artist has accomplished such a feat. “PAST < FUTURE” had a six week run on top in Hong Kong and a four week run in Singapore. Amuro previously held the record with 2008’s “BEST FICTION” which topped the charts in four countries. The record for men is currently held by Arashi who scored #1 in five countries as well.
